Hey IO! I'm Heath Miller and I'm the director of Browns Bridge InsideOut. I'm originally from Alabama where I went to school at Huntingdon College. I began working in student ministry in 2011 while serving at Golden Springs Baptist Church and attending New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, where I graduated from in 2014. My wife Erin and I were married in 2017, and we moved to Forsyth County in 2018 when I began working at Browns Bridge Church.
Favorite scripture:
Jesus' Parable of the Talents from Matthew 25, specifically verse 23: "His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.'"
If I could say one thing to encourage an InsideOut Leader:
Working with students is like planting a tree. You dig, you sow, you water, you pull weeds, and you wait. And over time you may get to see some growth begin to sprout. Eventually, by God's grace, those seeds grow into trees. Trees of whose fruit you will never eat and under whose shade you will never sit. Student ministry is an investment into the future lives of your high school students and into the future of God's Kingdom. Don't lose heart when the growth seems slow! Trees just take lots of time, patience, and grace.

If I could say one thing to encourage an InsideOut Leader:
Student ministry is a difficult task. In fact, it will require more time and love than you think is necessary. But the reality, that is often unseen, is we are never doing it alone. Galatians 3:20 says, “ Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within US.” Christ Jesus and His power are within US. So know when things seem dark and your spirit is crushed in ministry you can be confident and dependent upon Jesus for his power to change lives and hearts.

I grew up in Mississippi with my mom, dad, and little sister. I graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Elementary Education. In 2018, I moved to Georgia and joined the BBIO team as Logistics and Events Coordinator. I live in Sandy Springs with my roommate and dog, Charlie Grace. Currently, I am pursuing my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Richmont University.

Being a small group leader is a marathon, not a sprint. There will be hard days and there will also be extremely rewarding days. The most important thing is that you continue to pursue these high school students, and they know you will be there for them no matter what.

Now, I am in North Point's residency program, where I am getting the opportunity to get my master's degree through Dallas Theological Seminary, all while working at Browns Bridge! My main role on the team is running DIVE and overseeing our interns and Senior Leadership Team.

I grew up all over the country but spent most of my time in Hawaii and California! I moved to Georgia when I was 19 to intern at Woodstock City Church and have been here ever since. Before moving to BBIO, I led an IO small group and was on staff with UpStreet at Woodstock City for six years.

Your job as a small group leader is to consistently show up in the big moments and the small moments. Showing up emotionally and consistently has the power to transform a student's faith.
